I have to admit, when it comes to the holiday season, I am terribly sentimental. I cling to just about anything that will evoke a memory of idyllic holidays from childhood.
When I was little, we would await the three-hour journey (which seemed to take a lifetime) to my grand-parents home where we were greeted by the most musical door chime announcing our arrival. The fireplace alit, upright baby-grand piano chiming, and a cup of hot coca and plate of freshly baked Christmas cookies for a snack before bed let us know it was a special occasion.
Every year in our home, to prepare for the holidays I bring out my collection of special ornaments, dishes, and décor and begin to make our home festive in effort to evoke a memory and create a sense of occasion for my family. I have treasured items both collected and inherited from family which all contribute to that special occasion nostalgia that mark an event.
If you are busy with work and want to make your shopping easier, what could be better than avoiding the crowds in a last-minute mad frenzy of desperation to find that perfect thing to put under the tree. Well, if you, like me, hate crowds, I’ve found some great gifts I know I would love to receive.
Gift Ideas for the Homeowner who has Everything
Add any of these to your list and it will be sure to be a hit.
A Book on Entertaining
When I attended a conference in Palm Springs this past May, I met the author of the most beautiful book on entertaining. Shayla Copas is the ultimate entertainer and is just a darling! She is the kindest, most down-to-earth person you could ever want to meet.
Her book, filled with abundant beauty, drool worthy recipes, place setting inspiration, multi-course menus and great entertaining tips, will be sure to please anyone who likes to entertain…or just look at beautiful pictures. It is not possible to go overboard on the praise for this book. Ps if you like pink, it is one for the coffee table.
I had to share it with you here in case you need a thoughtful gift for someone special, or to add to your own gift list. You will thank me *wink wink*.
